What Is a Pow Wow?

A Pow Wow is a traditional gathering that brings together Indigenous Nations to share in the heartbeat of the drum, competitive dancing, and community connection. These events are open to the public and offer a unique opportunity to experience Indigenous traditions in a respectful, family-friendly setting.

At the Saulteaux First Nation Pow Wow, you’ll witness dancers in breathtaking regalia, powerful drum groups competing for top honors, and special events that honor resilience, healing, and community pride.

Drumming & Dance Competitions

The Saulteaux Pow Wow is home to one of the largest drumming contests in Saskatchewan, with over $63,000 in total prizes, including $20,000 for first place.

Dance competitions will be held in all categories:

  • Tiny Tots (6 & under) – Paid Daily
  • Junior Boys & Girls (7–12) – $250 to $50 prizes
  • Teen Boys & Girls (13–17) – $500 to $100 prizes
  • Junior Adults (18–39) – $1,000 to $200 prizes
  • Senior Adults (40–59) – $1,000 to $200 prizes
  • Golden Age (60+) – $1,000 to $200 prizes

✨ Plus, Category Specials of $5,000 each for Men’s and Women’s dance styles ensure unforgettable performances.

Specials and Cultural Events

This year’s Pow Wow will also feature unique specials, including:
